Greek food is the best! Would love to learn to make a hearty meaty moussaka. All of the Greekish recipes you mentioned sound so mouthwatering. Thank you Miss Georgina!
Lovely article! Makes my mouth full! Definitely my favourite, even if it is a very hard choice to make, is portokalopita, yummy filo pastry orange pie… sooo delicious, quite gramma kind of treat so not much easy to find in restaurants.
Oh my lord, Portokalopita is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I've found it in a restaurant menu only once, and it was named Greek Orange Cake, which to me doesn't make justice to what it really is. And you're right, it's quite the gramma kind of treat. Aren't those our favorites?
Your post reminded me that 31 years ago, my husband and I honeymooned in Greece and feasted on a variety of delicious Greek specialties. Among our favorites were the spanakopita, souvlaki, Greek salads and of course sweet desserts!
I can’t pick just one! Baklava. Stuffed grape leaves. Flaming saganaki, like what I had in a Greek restaurant in Chicago: opa! A dish of cooked peas at that same restaurant that I’ve never found a recipe for. Horiatiki. I could go on.
I love Greek food! Those cookies sound amazing and I will have to try them. Favorite dishes, almost anything with eggplant. Love keftedes served with tzatziki, and have a soft spot for galactoboureko.
Pascale, your list is fantastic, especially because you reminded me of the wonders of Galactoboureko! I tried it for the first time when the mother of a friend, from Albania, prepared it for us. How sweet that you helped me access this memory now. I shall plan to bake some soon. Thank you!

My friend, if you make de Moussaka, I'll bring a Greekish dessert! 😉❤️

Spanakopita, with its delicious crispy filo dough, salty feta and spinach!
My dear Miriam, spanakopita is always a winner for me, too! I love just the sound of it! Spanakopita--so beautiful!!! ❤️

Melissa, of course I had to google your Horiatiki immediatlly after reading your comment 😂
It all sounds amazing, and I'm with you here: I can't just pick one! But between us, is there really anything better than a flaming saganaki? haha
Thanks for your lovely comment!
