I was born and raised in San Diego, California and I can't imagine living anywhere else! We Californians are as diverse as the crops we grow and the wine we drink, but the thing we all have in common is a love of the salty sea air, warm sunny days and our connection to this great state. As a second generation American on my dad's side and 4th on my mom's I relish the the history of California - even the hard parts of our history. After all, we have to know where we've been in order to course-correct going forward. As I write, the border crisis continues to be an issue here. We must find a way to welcome those who seek refuge, work and a new life here in California. My family was welcomed here so very long ago and I want to make sure that the welcome mat is still there for the new Californians!
